The battery energizes essential circuits. Ground power brings the AC buses and displays online. The auxiliary power unit (APU) can then supply electricity independently.

The APU also supplies compressed bleed air. Turn the air-conditioning packs off and open the isolation valve so this air is available to the engine starters.
GRD opens the start valve. N2 measures the high-pressure core; N1 measures the fan. MAX engines can automatically motor before fuel introduction to manage rotor bow.
With MOTORING cleared, N2 at 25% and N1 rotation, move the start lever to IDLE in this scenario. Fuel flow and exhaust temperature rise. The starter cuts out near 63% N2.
